Law section 34 Canadian Criminal code says, “you can defend yourself BUT ONLY reasonable and disproportionate measures”
I know it does not make sense, but the force must be only if it’s reasonable and less aggressive than the suspect's aggression towards you.
There is a ‘No KING your castle’ law here in Canada as it is in the United States.
